Cnemon, Crispus, and the Marriage Laws of Constantine in the Aethiopica of Heliodorus
Résumé
The story of Cnemon in the Aethiopica echoes the deaths of Constantine’s son Crispus and wife Fausta in 326, and implies a hostile commentary on his legislation about marriage, adultery, and the family.
